Create a YouTube library
Every YouTuber should do this...
Welcome to my first ever newsletter post! I wanted to start off the newsletter with one tip that I’ll actually will never regret doing…. and that’s creating a YouTube library.
No, not a library of content — a library of actual living books.
I bought most of these books off of independent booksellers on Amazon and I have yet to regret spending a single cent of one of these books. Some of these books teach you about the YouTube algorithm (The YouTube Formula & YouTube Secrets) and some of them teach you things you need to know no matter if you’re a creator or not.
And if reading not for you, some of these books are on audio!
The YouTube Formula & YouTube Secrets
You want to learn everything about YouTube…? Read this book. Derral Eves, the author of The YouTube Formula has seen YouTube grow up. He has worked with popular creators like MrBeast and even founded the creator anticipated event VidSummit. He quotes his experiences with MrBeast throughout the book and shares knowledge he has learn about how YouTube works. It only costs about $20 and I highly recommend you read it.
YouTube Secrets teaches you how to deepen your niche and find a good community with YouTube. It also explores the right planning, filming and tips to make a great video.
Save the Cat! Series
Save the Cat is a series that was made for screenwriters in the film industry, but Blake Snyder’s methods and guide to storytelling can apply to any type of media you make. I bought four of the books, which include Save the Cat, Goes to the Movies, Strikes Back and TV. Blake’s BS2 formula can be used whenever you are trying to make a good story with your videos.
Steal Like an Artist
I originally bought Steal Like an Artist because it was recommended on a podcast, now after reading the book I bought the rest of the trilogy and am blown away by author Austin Kleon’s guide to telling and sharing your craft. Steal Like an Artist talks about being creative and getting ideas. Show Your Work talks about sharing your craft and how to meet other like minded people. Keep Going, the last book which I just finished reading, talks about how to deal in times when you are not being creative. I recommend all of these very highly.
You can check out all of these books and more on my Amazon list (I get some money with you shop with this link).
The end of the beginning…
I hope this newsletter helped you! I’m going to try and post every week (no promises lol). If you want to talk to me, you can tweet me on Twitter.
Stay poggers—
